Review of Heart and Harmony: Poetic Reflections on Legendary Singers
Archie Luper wrote the book "Heart and Harmony: Poetic Reflections on Legendary Singers," which is both educational and poetic. This book recognizes fifty global musical sensations for their exceptional talent and musical prowess. This book features musicians from various genres, so it will appeal to fans of good music.
I loved how this book started. The author began it with a genuine, heartfelt appreciation for his sister, Neecy, demonstrating their strong sibling bond and his deep respect for her. This aspect was expressed in a way that demonstrated the author's ability to clearly describe his thoughts. This quality was evident throughout the book, as he expressed his admiration for all of the featured musicians.
Each chapter began with a brief profile of the featured music star. These brief outlines were detailed enough to provide a brief introduction to the artists, along with facts that appeared educational. I enjoyed these brief profilings because I learned a lot about the artists that I didn't know beforehand. I enjoyed the artists' brief quotes the most. It was great to be able to relate to the beliefs of my favorite musicians.
The poems in this book, titled "Heart and Harmony," appear after the artist profiles. These Heart and Harmony poems were accurate and reflected that artist's growth. This is where the author demonstrated his extensive knowledge of the musician's life and challenges. This was an opportunity to learn because the poetic descriptions of facts about these stars struck a chord with me. I also liked how lines from these stars' music were used in the Heart and Harmony poems to make them more relatable.
What I disliked about this book was the very light print in the text. Trying to read the text made me strain my eyes, which reduced my enjoyment of the book. I only experienced this issue while using my phone. Everything was fine after I switched to a larger device. This flaw does not justify deducting a star, so I give this book a perfect 5 out of 5 stars. As I previously stated, this book would be particularly appealing to those who enjoy good music.
