Poems can be written about anything and can benefit the poet and the reader in so many unimaginable ways. In the poetry book A Song on the Road Home, H. Nicole Lawrence has written several spiritual poems after dealing with great loss in her life. She had hit a rough patch and even lost her love for painting. However, out of this rose her desire for spiritual seeking. To find out more and read these wonderful poems, get yourself a copy of this book.

There are several things I liked about this book. The poems were eye-opening, and I felt bliss after reading some of them. It took me a while to get to a point of full understanding of the poems, but when I started to really enjoy them, I wished they wouldn't end. I wished I could go on and on reading the poems.

The poems were also thought-provoking, and I found myself asking questions about life, humanity, death, and existence itself. The poem that really had me asking a lot of questions is entitled "Insane." The big question I had in mind is, "Is life an illusion, and do we really even exist?"

On the negative side, some of the poems were so short that I failed to understand the actual message the author was trying to lay out. It's just like the author jumped from one poem to another without giving the reader time to actually feel a connection with the poem. At times, I even wished that the poems would continue more, but alas, they came to an abrupt end. An example are the poems entitled "Unravelling" and "Rude." I really wished to have read more of these poems, but I was unfortunately disappointed.

Putting all of the above into account, I rate this book 4 out of 5 stars. The book seems to have been well edited since I encountered no errors while reading it. I recommend it to anyone interested in spiritual and self-healing poems.
