Inspiring Book of Poems, Dreams, and Stories by Lisa McCarthy was a sweet book of poetry that inspired me because of its emotional depth. Within the pages, you’ll find sadness, hope, appreciation for life, and even a few moments worthy of a laugh. I rate this a 4 out of 5.

My favorite excerpt out of the whole collection was “Freedom From Within.” This poem really spoke to me about the importance of enjoying life and appreciating every moment on this beautiful Earth. The vibes of the poem are fun and carefree, which is something I strive to be more like. I enjoyed how personal the author’s writing was and how vulnerable it felt while reading. Because of the emotional depth the author shows, it was easy to relate to the feelings expressed in this book.

I found one small grammar mistake, but it didn’t hinder my enjoyment of the book. The editing and the book itself weren’t perfect, but overall, I could tell a lot of time went into this. I removed one star because of the consistent religious context. There were no warnings or indications that this book would have so much content related to prayer and faith in God, so I felt a little blindsided. There’s nothing wrong with believing in or following a religion, but readers should be warned and made aware of the real content of a book before reading it. I had to look at multiple book descriptions on multiple websites to find anything stating that this book contains a great deal of context about the author seeking God.

Overall, Inspiring Book of Poems, Dreams, and Stories by Lisa McCarthy was a nice, quick read. I’d recommend this book to all poetry lovers and anyone looking for a short read that’ll still provoke some inspiration and deep thoughts.

It sounds like a heartfelt and deeply personal collection of poetry with a mix of emotions, from sadness to joy. The lack of clarity about the religious themes might be a drawback for some readers, but the emotional depth and relatable themes still make it an inspiring read.
