It is essential to seek to learn about the perspectives of people from cultures different from our own. Osaki captures in one of the poems the stereotypes of Asian Americans. I don't tend to connect with poems written in prose, but I would like to give this collection of poems a chance. Thanks for the review.

I liked the sample of this book and your review is intriguing. I will read Best Evidence by Mark S. Osaki and see how I feel about his writing about women. I really appreciated the first offering which is My Father Holding Squash. It resonated with me and my expectations of myself. I found that really interesting so I look forward to reading the book for many reasons and feel that emotions will abound.

Poetry is not a genre I enjoy reading on. Although, the review has buttered up the book enough to tempt my curiosity. I liked how the book supposedly talks about sensitive topics like the trauma left from the Vietnam war. Even though I doubt I would ever read this book, I congratulate it on being BOTD.

I am quite intrigued by the concept of prose poetry so I will definitely give this book a try. The themes of the Asian-American experience and war also piqued my interest. Congratulations on BOTD.

I love poetry books and this one is up my alley. I'm African-American but I love to learn about the lived experiences of other cultures, races, and religions. I will add this book to my must-read list of books for this year. Congrats to the author for having the BOTD.

Mark S. Osaki's prose poetry seems to be an exciting window into the life of an Asian American. I think Osaki is perhaps telling it like it is in his experience of women in his life. He cannot be penalized for it. Your review is well written though. Congratulations on the Book of the Day!

Thank you for your honest review. I'm not a fan of poetry, so would give this a miss. For me, any writing that is negative towards any demographic, be it a minority or a majority, isn't something I'm keen to read, so your review has double confirmed for me to skip this one.

Wow, what a review. I only read the sample of "Best Evidence" by Mark S. Osaki on Amazon. I liked the flow and style of the poems I got to read but I didnt know it is prose poetry, thank you for the enlightenment :wink2: , but reading your review really made me want to start my poetry book collection with this book. I am aware of the not so good light he portrays women :oops2: and I don't condone it, but I would still love this book in my collection. Thank you for a great review.
