50-word horror story

Post by Abraham Joy »

Okay. I saw this theme somewhere, and thought to engage our creativity here. Below is my own 50-word horror.

GHOST ON CANVAS

I always spend my leave with my grandpa in his magnificent country house. Now, I an sketching the old man who is relaxing in a cane chair, few feet from me. My phone beeps with a message from my dad.

'Been tryna reach you. My Pa died three nights ago.'

Nice! I really like the idea of super short horror stories. This is a great example. It entirely swings on the last 6 words!

I like it! It's not easy writing a horror story in so few words!

Okay. The title really got me. Surprisingly, I've heard numerous real life experiences just like this in where i live. Good read.

I love it, and there should be a contest with these rules. Stories like this always remind me of the following short story:

FOR SALE. BABY SHOES. NEVER WORN.

Gets me every time.

...Slowly, I look up from my phone. I watch as the old man opens his eyes, turns his head towards me, and grins. It is then I realize the horrible stench, the sunken blank eyes and droopy, pale skin. He goes to get up...

I really like what you did! I thought it would be cool to keep it going! Hope that's okay.

Finally I feel free, bracing wind blows my fears aside as the end approaches. My senses are heightened, I hear gulls and pounding surf, I smell brine on the updraft and see the colliding waves rising up to accept my falling body. The last thing I feel is calm acceptance…

Great idea, really forces you to refine every last word!

Thinking about what I would do if I were in the character's shoes makes me shiver. Nice work.

I agree. This is a great opening to an awesome horror story/movie! I wish there were more to read as far as other 50 word horror.

If this were a true story than the goosebumps I just got from reading it were just as real. If not than why would I get goosebumps? Some things just can't be explained...
