I thought your story was great! I also really like the idea of the 50 word horror story. Either a contest, or just its own section would be cool.

I saw this forum while searching for horror books to read. My first thought after seeing your wonderful piece was, “Oh, this is wonderful! It’ll be exciting for me to try this challenge.”

Few minutes later and numerous words deleted from my note pad, I can attest it isn’t easy at all to write a horror story in just 50 words. Kudos to the writer. I’ll still attempt this challenge, but I need some time to recover from this big L. :lol2:

Okay! I like this Idea. Here is my 50-word horror story.
In the darkness, I heard my name whispered softly. I lived alone, or so I thought. As I turned, my eyes met the reflection of a sinister figure behind me, grinning widely. But then, when I spun around, the room was empty. The voice returned, closer now. "I'm right here.”

Good word choices :). I enjoyed your story immensely; I was on the 'edge of my seat' in a mere three or four sentences. Kudos :)
