PRAISED A WIZARD

It never rains this side of the divide,
It storms dogs and cats
Ever since we marched on the side
Of a doctor we thought would cure us
And save us from the catastrophe
That had nailed us to the bed
For years uncountable and sad.

The doctor has only proved
That saving us was a non-starter,
Treating us was just our dream
Which would never come true,
Which would ever remain in the pipe,
What we hoped was a panacea
Was actually the wizard's wand.

Now we wallow in deeper pandemics,
We sank into hotter endemics
We are drowning in the ocean of epidemics.
The wizard hoodwinked us into the fray,
The wizard dangled a poison
That to us appeared as a carrot
And we took it, only to cry now.

We celebrated a doctor that mars,
A doctor that never heals
But instead, that kills,
Now we are not just injured
But we are prostrate on deathbeds
Calling out for divine intervention
To raise us out of the catastrophic pool
That our country plunged into.
