The Girl On My Camera by M.J. Martin

Post by Mario Janez-Martin »

Poignant laughs and bed snores,
seeing double,
shampoo bottles on the floor,
you cried on the pavement on the street that we grew up old

that girl on my camera,
we found each other on a worn-out bus
sitting next to each other, saying many words
not realising we were growing in the same old road

roads were empty, broken traffic lights galore
we carved a better life offshore
I miss the dogs when I need your laugh on the library floor
Listening to Marina, trying to connect with her more
With a blink, I wish I could be home

We prepare so much,
Cyprus, Turkey and Italy
Desired by the girl on my camera
Yearning for the day I hug her again

You are miles away,
Your pendant on my laying table
The photos we took made me feel able
As the memories perfume
Strength runs through my walls and plants
I crave brand-new pictures
I bet I will perpetually miss her
