Listening till the End

Death, the end we all must face, before we pass beyond this place,
But in the suffering that we find riches, Love demands a price, unkind.

And though our eyes may fail to see, the answers we so desperately seek,
We can find solace in the sound, Of voices that surround.

For when it's time to say goodbye and the cigarette burns close nearby,
I will not deny the truth or the fire that mars my charred lips.

But through it all, I'll keep on listening, to the words that keep my heart from missing,
The beauty that surrounds us here, until the end, when death draws near.
