Tiny Backpacks - An Original Poem

Tiny backpacks line the halls.
Three will go unclaimed.
Victory on the battlefield
At a cost for innocent lives.

Dying is hard when you're only nine
But surviving may be harder.
Forever fearful, and now traumatized
By those three empty cubbies on the wall.
