Broke Lover

How do you pretend
Not to hear
When love knocks
At your door?
But I fear for my heart
If I dare to love
In this helpless poverty.

Won't I cry
If one day I woke up
To a world without her smile,
Won't I die
If one day I lost the one thing
That means everything to me?

I know she knows
I have neither gold nor silver
To give to her;
The more I fear
I won't see her the next day.
