Willow
A blind, a shadow, and a magician you make of me
Safe are my powers of misdirection?
But still
The black dragon in your eyes remains dead to the world
Matt hair wets the small patch of island I breathe
Can you feel me blow cold life beneath?
But still
My moist lover swallows you into its earthy pit
Yet there is no sleep, there is no wake
Hear my branches of kin snap and rip as I lift your cheer?
But still
Your frown is as stubborn as an empty lone fox
Torrents of tears; salty, relics on my muddy, gritty seat
Do you eat, do you prey? Do you fleet?
But still
You exist as a germ of rotten seeds, cast out
My bulky brawn spurs to shelter your flighty peace
Are you grounded in my grave of grassy sprouts?
But still
There is no crying, no sighing, no trying and you’re mute
Shy of company my vines tug you to stir and play
This time I’m rewarded with a hive of golden hued eye
But still
You remain splayed across my lap, hush hush hush
The morning bird sings till its breaths litter the air
Raving is the sun on me like a demon of flame
But still
Comes no one, to save your soul.

Also, the last line left me wondering if no one coming to save her is a good thing because the some of the poem made it seem like she was hiding from danger, I was never quite sure where the danger was coming from and that sense of unease was a nice touch

This is a very evocative piece. It seemed like the repetition of 'but still' was like the swaying of branches.
