Icon The Unsettling side

Post by Indumugi C »

Deep in the woods, in the dark earth;
The conservative natives of the present;
Live in the past of ours.
That they trust as home and hearth.

We are a fictitious tale to them.
Strangers are looked down upon,  like turds.
Scarcely clothed women,  with bare thighs,
With  the sensual feminine hum.
A man like pure, pale milk turns sour,  thick curd;
Intertwined with nature things settle high.

Eroticism at its purest form is vegetal.
There in the secluded part of the world
lies an  orderly society of us - Humans.
We differ in every one of life's principles.
After all,  we are humans,  we are told.

Explore, dream and learn
Is their belief  system.
For,  the odds haven't  been this far.
A change welcomes their turn
to develop, accept and follow
alien ideas  that had no home before.

These are two different worlds;
Unique and cannot be juxtaposed!
For, the contemporary society has its  own evils.
Individualism and selfishness have conquered the world.

We are enduring a pitfall in
Values, family  and raising the young.
And reached  the  high-water  mark in
Poverty,  inequality, crime  and violence.
The rich and the judiciary  are entwined for long;
And there can be no utopia.

The tribal society is too far from development.
But  peaceful in its own right;
Except for the fuss about land rights.

The modern society is in the pinnacle of development.
But greedy in their own right;
Except for their occasional hype of sentimentality.

This seems unsettling ;
Not very progressive.

This is the first time I've read a poem with this kind of theme. I am impressed by how you presented your opinions and ideas. In fact, I found myself agreeing with every stanza. Great Job! Keep writing!
"Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light;
I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night."
