Rejected Roots

She paints red lines along her wrist
And up her arm
Veins erupt inside, weeping drops of
crimson
From the blue skies within

Boys girls
Reject roots threatening to grow
In her broken soul
No one to nurture the seeds
Of a heart averse to conformity

Alone in a world of brainwashed
Lunatics
Wearing masks painted with grins
Eerie robots
Shining the rose unable to bloom
Without nourishment from surroundings
Roots receding
Within
Clasping around a tainted heart

Isolation an unwanted gift
A lullaby so differently sung
A white rose in a garden of red
Broken roots shattered
Chapped lips pursed
In reflection of skinny, a girl
All wrapped up in
Straight jackets
Shoveling dirt
Burying roots
Not allowed to think thoughts
So sad in a corrupted universe
Where dead batteries don't exist

No one should feel alone. I wish no one ever felt out of sync with the world, but wishing doesn't make it so. It is a wonderful thing that love and acceptance sparks from deep within the soul. Not every soul wishes to nurture the flame, but the soul that feeds that spark, lightens up all of humanity. And that is a wonderful thing.

Love the poem. You will be genuine. I respect that. Keep writing, it is a powerful force. Use it well.
