Child of Africa
Eland born in the wild,
Must in haste learn to survive,
Not much to eat,
Trek miles in the scorching heat,
On little legs, small bare feet,
Scribble your A BC, on the ground,
Child of Africa,
I see you on my screen,
Puny, thin,
But what a smile,
Like sunshine,
Mischief, a sparkle in your eyes,
This cactus shall survive
In the arid desert thrive,
Like Mandela, Mtundukudzi.
Maathai,
So, child Of Africa,
Smile,your sunny smile,
At the world smile.

Beautiful. Reminds me of a lot of the poets I loved studying at university.

This reads like a national geographic poem. Like those scenes with beautiful settings in slight slow motion.

A great piece. Drawing Africa in it's realism...
