The Knowing
I never understood
Certain aspects about life,
How things change so abruptly
And people disappear without warning.
How could the waves of the ocean push north, Then suddenly, Gravitate south.
Why do some birds,
Fly to a warmer place for winter,
While other flocks stay at home.
Perhaps the world changes
And we are forced to adapt.
Or maybe it is us who change,
And the world sadly forces itself to accept our decisions.
I am not a wave that pushes North,
Nor am I the bird that flies else where
For winter.
I am one of the rebels who find comfort in the now.
The rebels who live for the moments
Where they're free falling.
I never understood why some people
Love for a moment
While others fall in love for eternity.
Perhaps, that's just the difference
Between having a home
And knowing where
Your soul belongs.
