Stuck At Home

My friends aren't here to take me away
They've been pushed back into their homes
And I've been forced back into mine
Sharing a room with my sister
We can hear the yelling start again
It's less yelling then it used to be
But it's enough
I hear my sister sigh for the fifth time today
I know she misses her girlfriends
She can't wait to get away from us
I stop reading my book and grab my board
I ask my brothers if they want to come
They're busy playing video games
That's good
They're living their best life
What am I doing?
I push off into the neighborhood
Against my weight
Against the wind
Against myself
Against the world
I can't escape my mind
Or have a moment of peace
Even now, there are people waving hello from a distance
"Hello," they wave "don't come too close! Covid-19, remember?"
You're kidding ... right?
They've been pushed back into their homes
And I've been forced back into mine
Sharing a room with my sister
We can hear the yelling start again
It's less yelling then it used to be
But it's enough
I hear my sister sigh for the fifth time today
I know she misses her girlfriends
She can't wait to get away from us
I stop reading my book and grab my board
I ask my brothers if they want to come
They're busy playing video games
That's good
They're living their best life
What am I doing?
I push off into the neighborhood
Against my weight
Against the wind
Against myself
Against the world
I can't escape my mind
Or have a moment of peace
Even now, there are people waving hello from a distance
"Hello," they wave "don't come too close! Covid-19, remember?"
