Dishonesty

by Angelique Webb
You're too much of a coward
to face who you really are.
You run from the truth,
like I fun from love.

If only you knew,
though my words are few -
they still hold the power
to shatter you.

I beg you , with tears in my eyes
drop your disguise
choke on your lies
and take back your smiles.

I will no longer dance with the flames of your fire,
you will never again have the power to control my empire.

I no longer care what your lips utter
when I am not there,
but when you speak my name -
I will set your world aflame.

You need to tie your tongue
before you lose everyone -
because someday you'll look down
from your self-appointed throne
and see you are utterly

alone.
.
.
.
tongue-tied

I love this line and agree with it. Each one has the power to reject "Dishonesty". Lovely poem.
