Black Dove

“A dove is not always white!”
Black skin girl,
Be proud of your skin of the night.
Don't try to give it light,
The beauties of darkness,
Who can tell?

“A dove is not always white!”
Black skin pearl,
Be proud, your color is alright.
Don't try to paint it or fight it.
Your beauty, none can sell,
It's priceless.

Water on your skin makes you look like the night sky,
Your skin shows that black too can shine.
Skin like yours fears no sunburns,
And your natural hair, like the African Amazon.

Spread your hands, wide black skin girl,
Your beauty is rare.
Walk with pride,
Head held high,
For it's from under the sun which other birds umbrella from,
That you proudly walk.

Fly beautiful black skin bird!
Fly to the sun other doves dread to look to,
Be proud beautiful black skin girl,
You are a dove too,
And if they say you're no dove then......
You're an eagle!

Beautiful writing, this would do many young girls well as they're growing into themselves and discovering things that may potentially make them stand out from others. Our oddities are often strengths not weaknesses!
