The quest seeking perfection

In the quest seeking perfection, I've slowly eaten myself whole
Destroying any remains of what once fulfilled my heart
All aspects of joy are now just a mere memory lingering in my mind
More like a fantasy than a once existing time
An endless black hole demanding to be fed constantly and when you could no longer feed it with achievement it ate you
It ate away at every little thing that gave you joy and turned it into the darkest tunnel
In the quest seeking perfection I had only reached a life far from perfect

That is so inspiring. This has truly changed the way I view myself and live my everyday life. Like Socrates said "true perfection is a bold quest to seek. Only the willing and true of heart will seek the heart of many." Your poem captures the essence of that.

Well said! This expresses an idea that is so true and so important for people to understand. Perfectionism stops you from really living.

I like you consumption was a major factor of the idea of perfection decaying. Though I do notice the POV changes one saying I've and then you. It may be an idea to watch for that but otherwise I enjoy the overall concept of the poem and 8ts very well written given the prose poetic format.

"In the quest seeking perfection I had only reached a life far from perfect"

What an intriguing thought...

The poem successfully conveys that the quest for perfection is merely a mirage.Nothing is perfect. There is always a 'better' that exists and overshadows the previous concept of perfection. And thus the quest continues......
Indeed a Good Read.:)
