What True Friends are For

This is a poem from when I was around 13 or 14 and had became interested in poetry. Enjoy!
WHAT TRUE FRIENDS ARE FOR
When I first received her,
I knew it was love at first sight.
Although, as a guinea pig,
It was a habit to nibble or bite.
She was pretty & soft,
and as cute as a button.
What I loved most about her,
was that she was never caught doing nuttin'.
Sometimes when I rattle a bag,
I can still hear her soft squeak,
and when I hold one of my other guinea pigs,
I can feel her warmth against my cheek.
I loved Sara so much,
Why did she have to go?
I knew God needed her,
maybe that's why I didn't say "no."
I cried and cried,
and cried some more.
Then I remembered,
that's what friends are for.
Friends, as true as the blue in the sky, might leave,
but only if they need to,
but in the end,
they will always remember you.
I never will forget her,
she was one of my greatest pets.
But even though she died that day,
I'm glad she's peacefully at rest.
