Unpack the bag

Unpack the bag
The “in case” suitcase.
Open the eyes of your heart.
Rub away the smudges of complacency
And the grime of disappointment.

Unpack the bag
That holds your hopes hostage.
Look again at the world
With new eyes of wonder and a soul revitalized.

Unpack the bag
That holds the what if’s.
Venture unhindered into the world
That once enticed and delighted you.
Be the you that was unafraid.

Unpack the bag
That contains your laughter.
Bring forth the joy that once
Was a lovely garment rippling.
Unshroud your happiness
and let banners of joy be unfurled.

Unpack the bag and come home.
