Walt

Walt

Middle aged, pudgy, amiable
Walt the dog, named for the poet,
Must listen to his share of America Singing from his back yard,
Sequestered there for not being street smart
By a nervous master.

It's scope enough.
He would embrace all who enter there,
invite them to roll as he does in grunting pleasure
over leaves of grass.

This is so clever! Walt sounds very enigmatic. I love love love the last line; awesome reference to Walt Whitman's "Leaves of Grass"

Good job :)

thanks so much for reading and your kind remarks. The inspiration for this attempt was an actual dog whose owner introduced him:"This is Walt. He's named for the poet."
