Inquisitive Musing

This is my first poetry posting here...hope you all enjoy.

What is it about life
That renders it so unfair?
I see suffering every day
Hearts worn weary
From the weight of the world
Emotions gnawing at me
I can't solve every problem
And that takes a toll on me
Looked upon by the ones
Who think I possess superpowers
As if my stethoscope
And white coat
Hold the very essence of life
But look a bit closer
You will see the stains
Of the ones who could not be saved
Further proof
That no one person
Can save everyone

Your poem raises that question that so many of us ask ourselves, and gives voice to the feelings of inadequacy in the face of tragedy that people whose job it is to help cannot escape. Are you, by chance, a medical professional? Perhaps that's too personal a question, and if you would rather not answer it, I understand. In any case, I found the poem an effective and heart felt statement. I look forward to more.
