Where I'm From

I’m born and bred from the white man’s land.
My ancestors, who traversed this soil long
Before my potato peeling half,
Humbly rolled out this lush green carpet
On which I make my debutante entrance into academia.
From blowing kisses from unleashed ledges
to blowing out fires on government subsidized reservations.
My toes, the arch of natives, my feet savor the welcoming home of God’s country
with no restraint from the civilized white man: shoes.
Blood boils for the white man and my heart aches for the native,
true americans
hushed
by immigrant illness.
Take me home.
I’m born and bred from the white man’s land,
But it’s my better half with whom I’d rather reside.
