Know You Are Alive

Trembling with awe and a fear uncouth
Of time uncovering the bitter, vile truth
Shattering clichés and steamrolling dreams
Life not as rosy as it deliberately seems
Clouds of hatred and disgust descend
On atrocious planes of nonexistent amends
Negativity bubbles up, eager to crush the world
But who will fight it and leave victory unfurled?
Plying the daily quota of assurances
In fiery displays of angry dances
That force, pushing us to live
But what does it take to effortlessly give?
Doubts, doubts and a million others
In our minds and that of our brothers
Rue their existence with all you have
But without them, how do you know you're alive?

This is beautiful. I love the lines: "life not as rosy as it deliberately seems" and "Rue their existence with all you have
But without them, how do you know you're alive?". The topic of what is living? and what is being alive? I think will go on and on because every thing is subjective.

Beautiful poem! I love it! I especially resonate with hatred and negativity looming all around us. I can feel these forces but I have learned to overcome feeling these forces by focusing on sending love to myself. Thank you!

I am not a really big poerty fan. But this, I LOVE! When you read it in a Scottish accent like myself then it is just amazing. Well done
