A Lover's Death
©Suzanne Kyle 2014
As the blood flows down his face
He stares off to a distant space
He thinks about how long his life
Had been drawn out in his eyes
He had never known how it felt
To keep true happiness for himself
What more for him could be
As he bound the rope to a tree
Then hark an angel's voice
Called to him from times gone by
As he thinks upon the past
The things that never last
Letting himself from the limb fall
Until darkness covers all
