Smell the flowers.
the world is at your fingertips but you can’t help but look further,
for something more,
for something better than a rock filled with beating hearts
that never seem to beat in sync. or want to, anyway.
you swallow the stars & you implode,
you swallow the sky & you wonder
why you ever thought that mundane things were
any less than everything you never knew.
mystery isn’t always beautiful.
sometimes it’s dark & it swallows you whole,
sometimes it takes a rope around your wrists,
an anchor tied at the end to keep it from
devouring everything that you are.
don’t get lose in what you don’t know.
get lost in what you do,
find beauty in what you can touch
& dream of what you can’t.
