Summer Sonnet

'Mid pleasant summer day, and bluest skies,
And in the shade of swaying maple trees,
The charms of nature made a wondrous scene,
With rustling boughs to only break the silence,
So, came the gentle touch of love in kind,
With gracing coolness sent upon the breeze,
That filled each breath with spirit and with glee,
And, as I marveled with my softened eyes,
A lively butterfly come tumbling past,
And looked unto her merry little heart
To be caught up in the winds of the Zephyr,
Which carried her along, and in her fancy,
It was as if she slipped from hand to hand
As her friends carried her into the meadow.

(author's note: I actually wrote this poem outside, and it was my take on a real event.)
