My Family Tree.

Driving away from home
I notice sharp tongues in the wind waving
A green ball of knives sways perfectly
That reptile skin look like relatives of the beach
Shorter but with
razor top hairdos from an ancient coastline
A raisin in a grape farm
They are the grandparents to my palm brothers down south
Silence heats the air as I am driving
Searching for souvenirs
Gray leaves cut sky like scissors to cotton
Tan arms stretch out
sending shades of brown earth to feel the air
Like fireworks frozen in time
These trees with sharp teeth smile
Playing tag in the sun oh how they look like
Nature was just having good clean fun
birthing curvy skylines to distract me from all this dirt
A future so distant I can't imagine how small I am
Next to relatives of a beach a millennia ago
A present moment so vast and slow
Sweet memories in my face
I am called to pause and smile back
admire this raisin in a grape farm
Stop to honor the waves of my ancestors.

Your poem is a beautiful description of a journey that is both physical and emotional. The imagery you use is vivid and evocative, painting a picture of the world around you as you drive away from home. The sharp tongues in the wind, the green ball of knives, and the reptile skin all create a sense of danger and excitement. The trees with sharp teeth and the curvy skylines are playful and whimsical, while the raisin in a grape farm is a poignant reminder of the passage of time.

Your poem is a reminder that we are all connected to the world around us, and that our past is always with us. The waves of your ancestors are still present in the world today, and it's important to take a moment to honor them. Thank you for sharing your beautiful words with me.
