Five Strawberries

Five Strawberries – by Casimir Greenfield

So, your journey’s almost over
It’s nearly done and said
Her photograph face down at the foot of your bed
You gaze across your childhood hills, to the skylarks and the pines
You whisper ‘Johnny Boy’ and slowly turn your head

Five Strawberries
Were all that you wanted
Five Strawberries
To take away the bitter taste of death
Five Strawberries, Five Strawberries
To leave their perfume sweet upon your final breath

I’ve seen your destination
Where light and love surrounds
Where love will live forever
Cos I’ve been there
If there’s to be salvation then I’m prepared to make a deal
But Johnny Boy always was the one

Five Strawberries
All that you wanted
A taste of the summer, a taste of the past
Five Strawberries just to remember
A taste of untold memories that will fade with the May
Five Strawberries

So, your journey’s just beginning
As the cycle starts again
As you hover with her voice inside your head
You gaze across your childhood hills, to the skylarks and the pines
You whisper ‘Hello Flar…’ and slowly turn your head

Is there a significance to the number of strawberries? It's so specific that it made me wonder if the strawberries symbolized something more.

...that's what Dad asked for... Five - very specifically...it meant something to him. A few hours later and he was gone...
