Conversation Beside the Cowshed

Calling in a friend in the village,
We blended our awareness, joked about stories
Laughed at what we didn't understand
Prospective rulers
Conspiracy and domination
Morality
Prophecy
And strategies to scrape for a bite of rice.

Merapi volcano lava poured out fortune
Thank you to ladies of our regional rulers
Giving droplets of earnings
Sand and stones supporting our clans.

We were arguing about presidential candidates,
Competing stories about the virtues we admire
Examining threats from the haters.

We then reconciled our views
Together parsed the idols’ vices
And the opponents’ virtues.

The breeze emanated from the cowshed,
Nature's vitality scattered wide,
Amidst the bustling bacteroides.
