Things I Miss
I miss hip huggers, bell bottoms with velvet patches, wide-brimmed hats, backless tops, fringe and macramé purses.
I miss peace movements, sit-ins, protests, and anti-war sentiment, Make Love not War, the man and peace signs
I miss VW bugs, painted buses, flower children, daisy chains, ankle tattoos, love-ins and communes.
I miss magic mushrooms, mescaline, windowpane acid, peyote buttons, hashish, $10 four-finger bags, and bogarting.
I miss Steppenwolf, Cream, Big Brother and the Holding Company, Jimmy Hendrix and Woodstock.
I miss Hari Krishna, Ravi Shankar, Sitar music, psychedelia, and layers of Patchouli in the air.
I miss Easy Rider, Alice B. Tochlas, 2001, Midnight Cowboy, The Graduate, and A Hard Day’s Night.
I miss the young girl with long brown hair, who sang out of tune unabashedly, hitchhiked without fear, judged no one, and was groovy, foxy, and far out!
