English Language

The English language is quite a travesty
to those who can’t understand its majesty.
The way the punctuation will flounce and fly,
the subtle difference between Me and I.
Oh, the English language! It’s form is quite mellifluous,
though becoming a master of it is quite meticulous.
Yet when the commas, conjunctions, and contractions connect,
there’s no feeling more satisfying than a sentence that’s correct.
Ah, the English language! So perfect and precise!
Songs created with every literary device.
A word for each color(perhaps more than one)
Turquoise, scarlet, burgundy: the fun’s just begun!
Yes, the English language: never outdated
New words made every day can leave you exasperated!
My true love for the language has clearly been stated
And if you share the opinion, I’ll certainly be elated.
Dialogue, diction, dialect- whichever word you choose
As long as you use correct grammar, you’ll never lose!
Hopefully you feel the love for the language I chose
(even if you don’t, just know I’ll oppose)
The language can be tricky for some, I suppose
Question my love and I’ll defend it, with perfectly proper prose.
to those who can’t understand its majesty.
