Innocence

Something about the twist of your foot,
the sadness in your eyes, reminds me
of my younger self.
Surrounded by people, just never fitting in.
Overhearing whispers
a child should never hear.
No carefree look of youth.
No innocence in your eyes.
You had to learn lessons too young
dear child, I can see it in our eyes.
