The Beach

Whooshing waves wash on the surf -
tugging the tide beneath them.
Foamy white froth dissipates -
the ocean roars like winds of thunder.

Powder-like, soft, white grains.
Hold our footprints in the dust
Grass shoots out from the dunes.
Where Pebbles and stones are scattered

A gushing Estuary at the centre,
escaping hurriedly into the sea;
where silver salmon somersault
and dive back into the water.

Whispy white clouds drift along -
The onshore breeze fueling them..
The sun casts its sparkles
On the flowing surface ripples

Behind the pampas coloured dunes
lies a flat, bare-barren burrow.
A cool, onshore breeze assists
In bringing a chill to the skin.

A flock of mallard duck
Flap and fly and flutter
Onto the watery surface -
Natures A-team formation

Horse-shoe-ringed bay -
Where a crab scurries sideways,
while sand hoppers come to life
and frighten beachgoers.

I really like your poem. The imagery is spot on and I can hear the waves as you describe them. It's been many years since I've been on the shoreline of a beach, but your poem took me back. Many thanks. You are a competent poet.
