To The Ones I Walked With

Post by Scott »

I wrote this today! Let me know what you think :D

To The Ones I Walked With

I didn't move on to leave you
I left you to move on

It's not from hate of the dirt's kind warmth
that I chose to grow
toward the hot blinding sun

And I didn't die and sprout wings
and fly away
out of hate of the caterpillars
Not the one I was
Not the ones that I was with

And maybe you have your wings too
And maybe you've ascended to the sky too
But that's the thing about the sky though
There's just so much sky to fly through

And even though our paths diverged
before we made it
I thank you for the time you spent by my side
walking me home
Because that's all we can ever do
Walk each other home
for a little bit

Home to the bright blue sky
Where souls glide and fly
Free

'But that's the thing about the sky though There's just so much sky to fly through.' Thoughts that strike my fancy! Hypersensitive to life! Introspective! Simple, straightforward, and appealing to heart. I liked the ending of the poem.

A simple, sweet, feeling of the heart.
And even though our paths diverged before we made it. It is heartbreaking and true at the same time. I loved the poetry.
To hate is an easy lazy thing, but to love takes strength everyone has, but not all are willing to practice

The lines about paths diverging and the vastness of the sky convey the idea that each individual has their own unique journey to navigate. Despite these different paths, there's gratitude expressed for the companionship and shared moments with those who accompanied the speaker for a part of their journey.

That pulled at my heartstrings and evoked so many emotions of pain and loss! But isn't that the harsh reality of life that we all choose to ignore everyday? This life is still a journey that must end someday, so hope we all walk with the good ones and cherish them before we have to leave. Loving this poem!
