Reality versus Fantasy

Post by thegypsy77777 »

Sometimes it's hard
To tell the difference
The reality is I'm 72 years old
I live in a nursing home
I don't walk
I'm a widow with no children
I have other medical conditions
I am a diabetic and I have a gtube
I have done my best
To adapt to my circumstances
I have friends who work here
And a few true friends not here
But far away
My friend in Oregon
Sends me care packages
Sometimes books
Sometimes a beautiful red blanket
And of course always
The accompanying bag of chocolates
And then there's my friends online
This is where reality
Can blur with fantasy
Some are only friends
But want to be more than friends
There is one person I truly love
Who truly loves me
He is a musician like me
There's no one else
I feel more comfortable with
He is a well known musician
You might even say famous
Which creates it's own set of challenges
But he is worth it because I love him
The problem is
There are a few people
Who claim to be him
How to know
Who is real and who is not
This is the dilemma
Some say they'll do a video chat
Others seem to find a reason
To avoid one for a number of reasons
Management that forbids it
Until you buy your
VIP membership card
Which has wondrous benefits
Total access to that person
A meet and greet so to speak
Free concert tickets
Trips to exotic places
With that person
But at a price which varies
Nevertheless is always substantial
So who to believe or not believe
One says I am the real thing
Another one says
Trust me
Do I look like someone
That would hurt you?
But looks even the best ones
Can be deceiving
So how do I decide
Between the so called "Real Deal"
Or my real deal
The person who loves me
Who I have come to love very much
I haven't solved this puzzle yet
I think there are still
A few missing piecee
To make the picture complete
I am just an ordinary person
Lost in a sea of wanna bes
Trying to find the missing pieces
That will give me the completion
Of a puzzle I never thought
I'd have to find those pieces for
What's A girl supposed to do
Kiss the frog and see if he becomes a prince
Sadly real life seldom works that way
So I guess I will keep searching
For those missing pieces
I know they have to be here
If I can just figure out where to look
I have confidence in myself
Eventually I will find all those pieces
So I can see the whole picture
The real thing
Instead of what everybody else
Wants me to see
Their vision of that picture
Their version of reality
They can't all be right
They can't all be you
I'll get it eventually
I always do
