Loan Yourself to Me

Post by Scott »

I just wrote this today. Let me know what you think! :D

Loan Yourself to Me

I don't need you
for me
to be happy
But I'm still asking
Loan yourself to me

In a deadly drought
I would dehydrate
And pass on
With my soul smiling
For I found the truer drink
In the eternal well of my infinite soul

And truly I need nothing

And yet these hands and mouth
Still write and speak
Begging in a way
Drown me in your love
Loan yourself to me

A clarion call! Food for thought! The words of your poem inspire us for contemplation and action. 'For I found the truer drink In the eternal well of my infinite soul.' Incredible!

Beautiful, passionate, sincere lines desiring the soul, understandably the
beloved. The soul, as in my opinion, represents eternal existence. Compelling love and dedication well expressed in these lines.

'I dont need you for me to be happy. But I'm still asking loan yourself to me'. These words are an inspiration to couples who are in a serious relationship. Sometimes we live for the person so much that we neglect ourselves and forget how to live for ourselves. Yet you loved yourself first before you fell in love.

I shall complete a few verses of my own if you don't mind.
I truly need nothing
But sometimes I feel something
Harder and solid like soul
To make me show me all
I truly need nothing
But for me could you do
Something I wish from you
I need something.

This poem seems to convey a difficult balance between the need for connection and independence. The speaker claims to be independent and content within, but they nevertheless want for another person's company and affection. The need for emotional connection despite feeling whole within gives more depth when combined with the idea of thirst and drowning. It's a moving examination of how humans deal with independence and dependence.

Your poem beautifully captures the paradox of self-sufficiency and the human desire for connection. We can find happiness within, yet we yearn for the enriching experience of sharing life with others. 'Loan yourself to me'—such a powerful plea for companionship and love.
We all need people who will give us feedback. That’s how we improve.
