I just wrote this today. Let me know what you think!

I'm the fire

I'm the fire you saw so far away that dark cold night
I'm the fire you thought would save your life
A far and distant calling light
You brought your beauty
and laid it shivering by my side

You smiled with gratitude
and asked me why
Why was I alone that night?
Why was I alone at all?

I didn't want to tell why they left
I didn't want to tell you why I was alone
But this was doomed and selfish, I guess I knew
Because when I didn't, you found out anyway

And if you knew, if you knew
At least you could have saved you

In the morning, you came so close
I could swear our souls kissed
But moments go as quick they come
And you were burned and you were gone

And I let you go, I let you go
Hurt and scorned
Just a little burned
Because I've followed people home before
I'm the fire whose desire
turned their houses into ash

I'm the fire with the warmth
So attractive in the dark
But let daylight save you
Before you get too close
And let the moments that come
just as quickly go

I'm the fire that let you leave
I'm the fire you didn't need

Deeply profound and beautiful heartfelt words that should be captured in a book. The graphics couldn’t be more perfect.

‘I could swear our souls kissed’ but moments go as quick they come’ (just beautiful)

This poem is hauntingly beautiful, capturing the allure and danger of a flame that both attracts and warns. It speaks to the complex nature of desire, the pain of solitude, and the bittersweet release of letting go. A poignant reminder of how close we can get to the warmth, yet how necessary it is to guard our hearts.

I'm not a poetry person, but I felt sad when I read it. I like the picture of the bonfire.

Fanciful! The words of the poem trigger diverse thoughts and ideas in my mind. Also, the words capture the essence of 'poetry.' I like how you have worded your thoughts.

Love, like fire, has a double edge. It has the power to make or break. Although things did not go as envisioned, the poet holds that "love" is not shamed. The author wishes that the one who left finds love again, and wishes them nothing but the best. Heartfelt emotions flow freely and beautifully.
