The Pissaro Poem

(for DATo, who knows why)

Colours soft, colours bright,
landscapes shifting, permanent,
land of shadow, land of light,
people dreamy and intent,
the momentous and the slight,
land of longing and content,
land of autumn and of spring,
land of home and wandering.

Land of flowers and harvest time,
land of smiles and gentleness,
where the daily and sublime
touched by sun and tenderness,
delicately intertwine,
a land where nature lives to bless
a landscape that, at first it seems,
comes from the colours of our dreams.

But still, this is no fairyland,
for people work and people weep,
live by the labour of their hand,
and come home weary, long for sleep,
a world not all would understand,
its colours resonant, but deep,
and people primitive, but wise,
millennia etched in their eyes.

And music, soft, and haunting plays,
as shifting images unfold,
hypnotic music of the days
of springtime planting, autumn gold,
music that echoes ancient ways
to match a landscape fresh and old
lulled and elated I surround
myself with images and sound.

Lovely, appropriate, and perfectly constructed. And, yes I do know why. [:- ) Thank you!

Now I am going back to that video with this poem as well as a crying towel at the ready! *L*
