Metal

The audience stares in anticipation,
What will they sound like?
The guitar shrieks and everyone knows,
That dancing will be involuntary.
Heart strings vibrate,
Literally shaken to the core.
What is this feeling?
Adrenalin.
Power radiates through consciousness,
Even the critics are cut loose,
From the string of rationality.
The people run together,
Into a parade of madness.
Hair flies, bodies bump,
All control is lost.
Emerge from the sea of sound,
Refreshed, revised,
And reborn.

OK, you know something, I was never into metal, but I really like this poem. I think you got right down to the core of a metal concert.

Very well done!!!

I also love the way the different senses are evoked. I think it may well be the mark of a good poem that it calls forth a response in us, even if the subject matter isn't one that personally interests us.

I'm glad that even though neither of you particularly listen to metal that you still found this poem interesting! I really try to put myself in the setting and imagine all of the feelings that would be rushing through me. Thank you!!!
