Ghetto Girl

All you see is filth, pollution you call it,
All I see is wealth,
To feed a whole population fit,
A source of livelihood.

I don't care about my health,
All I need is something to eat,
And from where others see death,
I can't help but scavenge through the sh*t,
It's my source of livelihood.

While you are busy selling your meth,
We are busy cleaning your sh*t,
The dumpsite so huge in depth,
But in its dangers we often submit,
As it's a source of livelihood.

I need school for knowledge in depth,
And hope that my light will someday get lit,
But for now all I need is strength,
And all my dreams can wait,
As I scavenge through this source of livelihood.

This poem is about a girl living in the ghetto, right close to the city's dumping site. What people see as trash, has been her source of livelihood for as long as she can remember.
