She lay awake at midnight
till the breaking of the dawn.
To her it's the most important part of the day:
to be in-between
the darkest hour
and the first faint light
across the sky;
in-between the deepest silence
and the first chirp of life
in-between the leaving
and the coming;
It is important to be of witness,
to be in-between the end and the beginning of time.

I really like this, being quite a fan of in-between times myself. I like the way you explore it, rather than nailing down what it's all about - in fact the final line seems to introduce an even greater sense of mystery.

Thanks so much for this! Really means a lot to me. I'm really glad you liked it! You think this could be a nice introduction to a novel?

Yes, that could be a really interesting way to start - perhaps for sci-fi, fantasy, or magic realism?
