And so the year moves on.
Another landmark, time defined,
that means more time has gone ...

And so the Northern Earth, inclined
for one brief day, for one eye-blink,
as we see life's wheel unwind,

Hovers on the season's brink,
a brief cessation, swift suspense,
a pause, in passing. So we think.

A time that seems to have no tense,
and shimmers in its limbo shine,
and is serene and yet intense

and knows that it must cross a line,
vault into undisputed spring,
that is the transience of time,

whatever it may hold or bring
or snatch from us in cruel guise,
that is the years' unravelling,

with joyful or with tear-filled eyes,
with tender hope, defiant fright,
perhaps it's best we realise ....

that equinox means 'equal night' -
but also, parity of light.
