Once
Symbols
They roamed the wild seas of deep planets
rolled on top of water burned by oily fires
squares angles circles
through a field of flowers
Symbols driven down
from the mountains into valleys
taken from land and sea
herded and corralled
broken and saddled into images
rode with witnesses of old world intrigues
Symbols leaking promises of love
the drama to lift the veil
of the mystics eye
speaking from a created frame
Here the poet is the magic wand
ultra violet light
penetrating past the veranda
A poet in the house
operating with a toolbox of notepads
ink and pen
threading the imagination into a needle
one thousand scenes of love making
in the poet’s mind
a landscape of words
obliterated
over and over
left over fragments funneled into view
presenting the final form
a poem of lasting beauty
sits on the horizon for the world to see
