Travel with me through this journey,
So that when it gets tough and weary,
We can support each other,
In crossing the river and jumping the gutter.

Travel with me so that when we encounter valleys and ridges,
We can combine efforts and build bridges,
When we are two we are stronger,
And we can travel much longer.

Travel with me so that when we reach a smooth tarmack,
You can lean on my chest and gently rub my stomach,
And when I get exhausted and upbeat,
You can take over the driver’s seat.

Travel with me when I am poor,
So that we can test how much we can endure,
Stick with me through the desert,
Let the hot, dusty wind not blow us apart.

Travel with me when I am wealthy,
So that we can learn how to humble ourselves with plenty,
And when we reach the furthest place,
They can rightly say we finished the race

I like the theme you've chosen as well as the poem itself. I particularly like the way you itemize many of the varying conditions of life and the advantage to be found in sharing both the good as well as the bad with a companion and soul mate.
