Cleaning in Spring Melissa

Fragments of another life
Drifting toward oblivion
Reduced to an untidy heap
Fluttering to the ground
A shirt, a prom dress, a christening outfit
Reminders of a life well spent
Gossamer lace, booties
Books for another era
No longer filling my days.
Some insights are fresh
With intermittent sadness
Yet glimmers of joy emerge.
The shedding continues
While lightness prevails.

I really enjoy the imagery in this poem and the hidden meanings of clearing away the clutter of life until 'lightness prevails.' Good work!

What a nice work! Your imagery is very clear, and it brought back many memories of cleaning out closets and boxes. This poem should resonate with many people who have ever cleaned out an attic or a parent's house.

Thank you for posting for all the world to see! Keep putting your thoughts on paper. This is nicely done.
