My husband is a gentleman. He doesn't throw women out. It's a matter of RESPECT. Thankfully, we both respect each other to not overstep the limits of decency. That's what I mean by keeping a check. Knowing how far to go when you talk to a woman. Women are not dogs. You don't throw out a wife who demands respect.

Nobody ever said women are dogs.
You don't demand respect, you EARN it. That applies to both sexes.
To throw out is a figure of speech, I certainly would not stop with anyone...no matter what their sex, if they wanted to keep me "in check".
And I am sorry, I don't understand what you mean by "knowing how far to go when you talk to a woman". Surely you mean any other human being, not just a woman. I try to show respect to all if they merit respect.

First may I say that gender has nothing to do with romantic notions...I'm just so grateful for the man I've been with almost thirty years. It took me a long time to grow up and appreciate what real love is all about. Just the familiarity is enough when you reach a certain age. That they know how you take your coffee, which bath salts you want and come home with a bag full, you love the dogs and cats and they love them because you love them, or they surprise you on a weekend morning with coffee made and Danish from a favorite bakery...that they see you come down the stairs, hair boinging every which way, wrinkled and sleepy...and they still let you know how sexy you are anyway...that's real love kids!

Love this quote from that " miscreant " Pablo Picasso....

" There are only two kinds of women, Goddesses or Doormats "...

I truly believe this to the point of instilling this " concept " into the psyche of my two daughters as they were growing up...

or as that Dr. Phathead Phil says: " We teach ppl how to treat us "....Romance? or Abuse?, take your pick 8)

Goddesses, doormats or...dykes? I mean that in a positive way actually. In a relationship of any gender it works well when each partner is comfortable showing off their strong points. I'm the strong one in the relationship, emotionally and physically. My hubby is the one who frets over everything and can throw together the most amazing menus. I fix things, I fix people... and he's there for me to lean back on when I've taken on too much. The funny thing is I'm a petite little thing and he looks like a human bulldog...it's what's inside that counts...

That reminds me of a guy I used to work with, he was over 6 ft. tall and built like a Mack truck. At work he was a big rough guy, we called him the human forklift. I once saw him in a store with his wife, she was a tiny petite little thing and he really doted on her, she led him around like a puppy. He was all softy-softy inside, at least with her.

B.H., there's a word for that ( actually two  ) but we won't go there, will we, after all this is a " family " show....

L.B. interesting, i picture you as a " petite " type person w/short dark hair, am i wrong?...the " dynamics " of a couple have always fascinated me...lucky you! to have found a man that you find such comfort in...all that, and he can cook too! 8)
