Questions about OBC

Post by Tiffany Dowell »

Is there a way to see the book page that you see just before you select a book that has the reviewer requirements on it after you select it again?

Another question, when noting spelling, punctuation, and grammar errors, are we allowed to double check with spellcheckers, grammar checkers, punctuation checkers, etc., and screenshot the feedback we get from it to prove that yes, there were in fact errors, and these are in fact real errors when writing our reviews so as to avoid "argument" that yes, there were errors and nope, no there were not? Just checking if we can do this, because I've read that reviewers listed errors that were there and then got told they weren't and I figured, this could definitely be avoided or easily settled.

The reviewer listed a few edits. When I checked I found some were not edits. This didn't cause a problem as I wanted my book perfect so a triple check was worthwhile. As I waited for the review I was still editing so I figured I had found the errors anyway. It is good to know that I was correct.

After you click to select a book, you should receive an email verification stating that you selected that book. The information about the author, requirements, etc will be in that email.

I figure that as a reviewer, it is diligent to read the book for pleasure first and note any specific things about the book that I love, or hate, and why, like anyone would casually read it.

Start with a synopsis of the book, and then write out my review.

Then go back and re-read the book to double check for any profanity or sexuality not already noted, and make sure that I caught it, up to the required 10 notes of grammar or spelling, and 1 for sexuality.

Then go back, and copy EVERY page where those notes are into Grammarly, Microsoft Editor, Quillbot, languagetool.org, etc. until I either find 10 or don't. Screenshot these sources, and their outputs for the author to see. Or, delete the note, remove anything where I was wrong from the review, keep the errors where I was right, and move on.

Word count the review.
Double-check that I put in the correct rating and why.
Double-check that if I found no errors, I stated that I checked for them while reviewing, via Grammarly, Microsoft Editor, Quillbot, languagetoo.org, and whatever other stuff I used to validate, and found none.

Reread my own review, and run it through the SAME checkers, to make sure I don't sound like an English class drop out. Then submit it.

Thank you much, I am pretty bad at checking my email so that's why I didn't know. Gonna have to get used to that.

Tiffany, I think that you are making this too hard. You don't have to go through the book three times and copy every page into a grammar/spelling app. I read the book for pleasure, but when I come across an error, I write down the page number and sentence. If I have a question as to whether it is actually an error, I then type the sentence only into the spelling/grammar app. You don't have to copy every page. It's unnecessary.
